Centeris to work with industry
leaders on cross-platform server administration and identity
management solutions.
BELLEVUE, Wash. - November 14, 2006 - Centeris
Corporation, a pioneer in Microsoft ® Windows ® and Linux server
integration and management technology, today announced that it has
joined the Microsoft Interop Alliance, which was designed to enable
various information technology companies to collaboratively improve
interoperability with Microsoft technologies. Centeris is one of
the first organizations to join the Alliance, and will work with
the Alliance community to help solve interoperability issues with
its flagship product, Likewise 2.0, a server management solution
that helps organizations to manage Windows and Linux on the same
network.
"The Alliance demonstrates Microsoft's firm commitment to
interoperability, which has become a major issue as more
organizations are using or experimenting with multiple operating
systems on their networks," said Barry Crist, chief executive
officer of Centeris. "As one of the founding members in the
Alliance, we have a great opportunity to share our expertise in
administration and identity management allowing companies to
integrate Linux and non-Windows systems with Active Directory.
We appreciate Microsoft's invitation to join this community
and look forward to helping more companies manage their
heterogeneous environments."
Likewise allows systems administrators to seamlessly manage
networks that are simultaneously running Windows and Linux without
needing specialized staffing or additional IT resources.
System administrators can use Likewise to integrate Linux with
Microsoft Active Directory for centralized management of Linux
servers and workstations, configuring machines to perform single
sign-on, and set up Linux Apache servers to authenticate intranet
Web browser users against Active Directory permissions
information.
"As an Alliance partner, Centeris will have a unique opportunity
to showcase its products and services to a community of companies
that are interested in pushing forward interoperability issues and
technologies," said Sam Rosenbalm, business development manager,
Microsoft. "Centeris will also have the opportunity to work with
other companies in testing multi-vendor interop scenarios. We look
forward to engaging Centeris in future interoperability discussions
with Microsoft and our Alliance community."
